New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has raised serious concerns over the content of the popular track “Volume 1” while hearing a petition seeking action against the song. The court observed that the lyrics appear to be vulgar and objectionable, prompting questions about their impact on society.

The track is linked to prominent music artists Honey Singh and Badshah, both of whom enjoy a strong following among young listeners. The petition before the court argued that such lyrics may negatively influence impressionable audiences, particularly children and teenagers.

During the proceedings, the bench stressed that content of this nature should not remain freely accessible on digital platforms without proper checks. It directed concerned intermediaries to review the song and take appropriate action, including a possible takedown.

The court further remarked that obscenity cannot be justified in the name of entertainment. Notices have been issued to relevant parties, and the matter is expected to be taken up again in subsequent hearings.

The case highlights the broader issue of content regulation in the digital space, where authorities continue to grapple with maintaining a balance between creative freedom and societal responsibility.
